As promised, the start of weekly discussion posts to make the rewatch experience a bit more interesting and communicative.

Episode: Wax Lion

Jaye Tyler, a college graduate working in a Niagara Falls souvenir shop, finds her life changed when, after a bump on the head, a partly deformed wax lion from a vending machine starts telling her what to do. Her family thinks she has lost it, and sends her to a therapist, but a brass monkey on his desk talks to her as well. On the up side, she meets a handsome young man who left his cheating wife during their honeymoon.

Interesting trivia: Wonderfalls had an unaired pilot (see it here on Youtube) , in which Adam Scott and Kerry Washington play Aaron & Mahandra. I'm so glad they were unavailable to continue with the series, because Lee Pace & Tracie Thoms brought so much more to the characters. When I watch Carry Washington's performance in the pilot, she makes Mahandra seem more judgemental and annoying, Tracie on the other hand makes her lines and Mahandra's teasing more endearing and sweet. There is much more chemistry between her and Caroline. Also Bryan Fuller himself once said that Aaron would have been a completely different character if Adam Scott had continued to play him. I believe he was supposed to be a sex addict or something, but someone correct me (I believe he said that on the DVD commentary for Wax Lion, not sure though).

Yeah, watching the pilot again, Lee Pace comes off vaguely skeezy, and I remember not liking him very much. Of course, fast forward to the later eps with Mahandra, and I LOVED him.

It's truly a shame Wonderfalls got cancelled so early, because the people who only saw the original airings saw very little of Aaron. When Lee talked about the show to people he knew, he must have been like "Oh, I don't have much to do in these first few episodes, but starting episode 5 I get much more to do - oh noooo, it got cancelled :("

Sharon: How many people did you call before you called me?
Jaye: Five, no six. You really went home early.

For some reason I really loved that exchange between them. :D

Love that scene ^_^. "You're 24. Troubled teen is no longer flattering on you", was my favorite line. I would say the latter half to my older sister all the time.

I just loved the way the relationship between the siblings played out. It was funny and sweet, but at the same not really corny. It felt pretty real/honest to me, the way they wrote/portrayed it.

Another favorite line of the pilot episode is Karen's "Sharon, another cigarette? Aren't your finger nails yellow enough?" Diana Scarwid has such a great line delivery, she takes a line that is not even all that funny and makes it hilarious.

Ive seen the episodes so many times that I normally just tune in for my favorite parts. So this time I watched it all the way through for the first time and there were so many awesome little moments that i'd forgotten about.
-I love, love, love the immediate chemistry between Jaye and Eric. Especially when he smiles at her, and says (paraphrasing cuz I dont remember exactly) "Im about ready to jump into a rebound relationship. Whaddya say?"
-The dialogue is so quick and funny and sarcastic.
-I forgot how awesomely mean Jaye is when we first meet her, especially since she's Caroline Dhavernas is so tiny and pretty.
-The "I love you" scene between Sharon and Jaye! So many awwwwws. It cracks me up how Jaye is so surprised that it doesnt hurt to say I love you to her sister. And how shocked Sharon is that Jaye even wants to.
I can't wait to watch the next one. Im trying really hard not to cheat and just marathon the whole thing.

Jaye and Eric are such a hot couple. It's ridiculous how much chemistry they've had. Sometimes tv pairings can come off rather forced, their relationship seemed pretty natural and sweet. I was pining over both of them. :D

I believe Jaye's first line "Are you buying this or what?", it was delivered in such a great way that I was immediately sold on the show. Caroline Dhavernas is so good at comedy and drama, it's terrifying. Next year when she is a regular on the Shonda Rhimes drama, I fear that she will be totally wasted. If it fails, hopefully Bryan Fuller comes in and creates a new show for her, because she is too awesome not to be on tv regularly.

The "I love you"-scene wasn't in the original script, I believe. FOX wanted more bonding between the sisters and requested it. I'm really impressed by how Bryan and Todd fulfilled FOX's wishes without making it corny. They made it just in a way that it is believable for the characters and the show.

I actually haven't watched the pilot yet. LOL. I just watched it so often that I know everything by heart. I really like to have a discussion going on and talk about it though, because I don't know anybody who has watched the show.
